Dotner is a finnish software company specialised in tools for software production. It was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Helsinki.

Erkki Tapola, the founder of Dotner, has worked since 1996 as software architect and product development director at companies such as Image Soft, SSH Communications Security, Valimo Wireless and Exidio. His specialities include data security and object oriented design. The Tracker application is the result of Erkki's experience in both software process development and software development.

Erkki has started the Tracker development out of necessity. "After studying a large number of products available in the area of project management, I came to the conclusion that no complete and yet simple to use solution exists for the needs of the small and medium sized software companies. Improving the software process soon requires deployment of tools. This takes time away from other urgent matters. My approach alleviates these problems by providing a fixed price solution and a tool easy to use. Tracker combines the best features of both commercial and open source tools. By using the Tracker you can immediately see the improvement in communication and in project transparency."
